Still, to be clear, not that unusual for animated movies in particular to go through a lot of story changes before hitting their final version, and while the original drafts of the script were by Lego Movie duo Phil Lord and Chris Miller, they're understandably a little busy with their Han Solo film to come back for more writing.
And Bob-Waksberg has certainly proved to be a witty, clever writer whose canny animated look at Hollywood foibles and one particular actor's neuroses is well worth seeing (the third season starts on July 22). While this is his first film script, he's written for plenty of TV series.
So we're staying hopeful on this one, especially as there are still years before director Rob Schrab has to have it on screens for February 8, 2019. The Lego Batman Movie, meanwhile, arrives on February 10 next year. We talked to Lord and Miller about it.
