Enemy Of The State: TV version of Will Smith film in development

Enemy Of The State, the 1998 Tony Scott film starring Will Smith and Gene Hackman, has been given a pilot commitment for a television version.

To be produced by the film's Jerry Bruckheimer, the proposed show will take place twenty years after the events of the original and focus on an NSA spy accused of providing classified information to enemies of America. An FBI agent and a female attorny team up to stop a potential global conspiracy in its tracks before the deepest of secrets can be revealed. All three characters will reportedly be connected in some way through mysteries of their past.

In the film, Smith played a lawyer who suddenly finds himself in possession of evidence in a political crime and goes on the run from a corrupt senator and the NSA agents working for him.

The script for Enemy Of The State is being written by Morgan Davis Foehl, who also wrote Michael Mann's Blackhat.
